Archaeological Remains

In the summer of 2006, Dr. Bjarni F. Einarsson discovered traces in the landscape south of the cemetery at Stöð suggesting that archaeological remains might lie beneath. No formal research took place until a group of locals learned of the matter and convinced Bjarni to excavate the field and begin investigations. That was in the autumn of 2015.

Every summer since then, Bjarni has arrived with a his team to excavate the ruins he discovered there, and they have proven to be older than anyone had ever suspected.
